USCIS ISSUES UPDATED GUIDANCE ON EXPEDITED EADs FOR HEALTHCARE WORKERS AND CHILDCARE WORKERS

October 25, 2022

On October 20, 2022, USCIS announced that healthcare workers and childcare workers in valid immigration status who: (1) have an initial Application for Employment Authorization which has been pending for over 90 days or (2) have a renewal Application for Employment Authorization for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) that expires within 30 days or less (or has already expired) may request expedited processing for their Application for Employment Authorization.

If a healthcare worker or childcare worker has an Application for Employment Authorization that meets the above criteria, they may request expedited processing of their EAD by calling the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283 (TTY 800-767-1833). Applicants should be prepared to provide evidence (e.g., an employment verification letter, recent earnings statements, or pay stubs) of their profession or current or immediate prospective employment as a healthcare worker or a childcare worker and current valid immigration status. For more information on how to make an expedited request, please reference this page.
