In a speech earlier this morning at the White House, President Obama urged lawmakers who were “serious” about the issue to support a Senate bill and highlighted the economic benefits of changing the system. Reuters noted that the President has not given a major public address on immigration for quite some time, keeping with the White House’s strategy of not wanting to get in the way of the bipartisan bill’s progress in the Senate.
