On June 4, 2025, DHS Secretary issued a notice that the designation of Cameroon for TPS will be terminated. The Secretary determined that, “the conditions supporting Cameroon’s June 7, 2022, designation for TPS on the basis of ongoing armed conflict and extraordinary and temporary conditions are no longer met.” Although there is ongoing conflict, DHS Secretary concluded that the conflicts “are contained in limited regions that primarily impact only three of the ten regions comprising Cameroon” Subsequently, DHS Secretary determined that Cameroon no longer continues to meet the conditions for its designation of TPS and that Cameroon nationals can “return to the majority of areas in Cameroon that do not pose a serious threat to personal safety.” The designation is set to expire on June 7, 2025. Individuals who have been granted TPS under this designation will no longer have legal status in the United States after August 4, 2025. Foreign nationals from Cameroon will have their work authorization taken away and may be at risk for deportation. This will impact approximately 5,200 nationals of Cameroon.
